Sir William Ramsay School

Empowering Everyone to Achieve

Sir William Ramsay School will be partially closed on Thursday 3rd January 2019

Sir William Ramsay School will be partially closed on Thursday 3rd January 2019 due to a large part of the school buildings not having heating. We are unable to bring in electric heaters as we have been advised that the numbers needed would trip our electricity supply.

Years 11, 12 and 13 are to come into school and will have lessons as normal just sometimes in different classrooms which have heating. Room changes will be advertised around the school site. Normal school uniform is to be worn. Food will be available at break and lunchtime in Café Ramsay. Home to school transport will operate as normal.

The Year 11 Art Mock Exam which was due to take place on 3rd and 4th January will be postponed as there is no heating in the Art Block and these specialist rooms are needed for the exam. Year 11 PE lessons will take place but students need to bring only trainers and not PE kit as the Changing Rooms are not heated. The Post-16 Collaboration lessons will take place as normal on 3rd January 2019.

Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 are to remain at home and work will be set for those lessons missed through Show My Homework (this work will not be handed in).

We are very sorry for this inconvenience to Parents/Carers. We will make decisions about arrangements for Friday 4 th January during Thursday once we have had feedback from the heating engineers. We will be back in touch with Parents/Carers via text message on Thursday.

Please note the meeting regarding the Iceland trip on the 3rd January will still go ahead.
