The SWR Parents Association consists of a group of dedicated parents who have chosen Sir William Ramsay for their children because they want the best that a secondary school can offer.
The aim of the association is to provide the school with the extras that are not necessarily affordable or essential to the curriculum, but will go towards enhancing the whole educational experience of the children. The committee meets on average twice a term to exchange ideas and organise fund raising activities. These can be anything from a barn dance or quiz night to a shopping evening or prize draw. As well as being an opportunity to meet like minded people; friendships are formed, and a good time is generally had by all.
Recently, the association has raised funds to purchase interactive white boards; CADCAM equipment; data projectors; framing and canvassing for community art projects; as well as donating a considerable amount to assist the purchase of a much needed minibus which has become invaluable in transporting students to a variety of off site events.
This year, we have been asked to fund an outdoor covered area to provide students with a shelter from inclement weather. We will, of course, continue to support other departments depending on their requirements, but in order to do all of this, we need YOU! If it wasn't for the support of the parents, the Ramsay Association would not exist. So please, if you can't join us, come along and support our events, make some new friends and help us buy much needed equipment for our children.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
