SWR Weekly Newsletter 18/09/2015
Message from the Head
I would like to thank all the students who contributed to last night’s Open Evening for prospective parents. As always, our students were brilliant ambassadors for their school and I received a huge number of positive comments from our visitors. The school will continue to be open for visits for the next five Tuesday mornings from 9.15 - 10.30 am.
I would also like to extend my thanks to those staff who have accompanied so many of our students on trips this week; particularly those travelling with the Year 7 group on the Bushcraft Trip. We know that students will carry the friendships and memories from this trip through their time at the school, as well as the pride they can take in rising to new challenges.
We look forward to welcoming parents and carers of Y7, Y8 and Y9 students to the Parent Carer Partnership Evening which will take place next Thursday, the 24th September from 1900 - 2030.
Please note that the Y10 & Y11 Parent Carer Partnership Evening which was to take place on Friday 25th September has been postponed; it will now take place on Thursday 15th October.
On Monday 28th September individual school photographs will be taken of all students in Years 8, 9 and 10.
May we also remind parents/carers of two Inset days when school will be closed to students:-
Monday, 2nd November and Friday, 27th November.
Finally, may I remind you of our expectations in relation to uniform as highlighted in last week’s newsletter.
We would expect all uniform to be absolutely perfect by this stage in the term and I hope that we have picked up and corrected any infringements to our policy. This allows us to focus on what really matters for each of our students: learning.
Philosophy and Ethics Film club - Message from Mrs Pettett:
Starting Friday 18th September in E6 at lunchtime each week will be Philosophy and Ethics Film Club. An opportunity to deepen your thinking and extend your learning through film! Carefully selected films that tie in with what is going on in lessons as well as films that will allow you to open your mind and think about the wider world. Bring your lunch with you as the film will start prompt at 1:20 giving us plenty of viewing time. The first film we will watch is ‘Mean Girls!’
