Sir William Ramsay School

Empowering Everyone to Achieve

Pastoral Care

The schools pastoral and academic structures support the individual.  Staff and students work closely together to promote a caring environment.

Every student at Sir William Ramsay is allocated to a tutor group when they join the school in year 7; they will remain with that tutor group, and tutor, until the end of year 11. The tutor is very important to their tutees and is responsible for the pastoral needs of their tutees, helping them to cope with everyday life at Sir William Ramsay. Each year group is managed by a Head of Year and supported by a Pastoral Manager. Concerns and problems from home are referred initially to the tutor of the student and in more serious cases to the Head of Year or Pastoral Manager. The Heads of Year and pastoral team works closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo), Matron, Connexions and other external support agencies.

Our first priority is every student's safety and welfare. Therefore, it may be necessary, on occasion, when our concern for your child means that we need to contact other agencies before we contact you. Buckinghamshire Child Protection Committees have determined the procedures we follow. If you want to know more about these procedures, please contact the Headteacher.
